Don't know which I dislike more, nightmares or wonky, surreal dreams that are unsettling, but not scary, and that I can't decipher for the life of me. Maddening. Can't even really remember it, let alone make any proper sense of it, and both facts are driving me up the wall.

I vaguely remember a walrus, but that's about as significant as "koo koo kachoo."

I like how it's suddenly my fault that we're out of the latest in whatever ridiculous, Fifi LaFolle knock-off series you're so enamoured with, Cranky Customer #17. I don't order the books; I just work here. Maybe you could try, I don't know, being nicer?

I need a nap.

Well done, Justin. Simply brilliant job you did there. That wasn't ridiculously embarrassing in the slightest. And of course you didn't sound like a moralistic, patronising arse. Not you, not at all.

Honestly.

thats a shame

they should be nice to you because you're probably nice to them

I certainly try. And, really, it's their prerogative to be nice or not, but the lack of respect they give us at the shop is just appalling sometimes.

Are you all right?

Ah. It was just the lack of capital letters, I guess. It looked mildly concerning.

Admittedly, I'm not being perfectly fair to the lot of them -- not all of them are that bad. You do get rather special ones from time to time, though.

The ones with gaggles of small children are the worst, in my experience.

Talking in Logic never works for stupid customers. Unless it's different in bookshops.

I can't really make an accurate comparison, since I've only ever had to deal with customers at Flourish & Blott's, but there probably isn't any functional difference.

Which is why you overcharge them by a few Sickles, pocket the difference. Got to get compensation somehow.

Why do people not understand that you can get father by being nice than being rude?

I don't get people sometimes.

I don't know. She was probably having a really terrible day or something, in which case I'm sorry for not being helpful, but still. Not my fault we didn't have her book.

Still, that is no reason to be rude to someone for no reason.

Did she think you were just going to conjure the book out of nowhere?

I'm not sure. Maybe, in which case she's unrealistic as well as absurdly cranky.

I will go with the unrealistic and cranky explanation.

Oh did you read my entry about my birthday? I have having everyone go out for my 24th birthday. You as my best mate have to be there or else I will pout at you with my irresistible puppy dog eyes.

I did! We aren't going to any Where did you want to go for it? I've had it scheduled to get that day off for a while, so I won't miss it or anything, but... where did you want to go? And what kind of presents do you want?

I only planed up to the, "I want to go out part". I still don't have the spot figured out, but I am not much of a drinking so I don't think a pub will be in the cards.

Maybe a nightclub we could dance and just have fun at. I haven't seen you dance in a while.

Oh and what fun is it if I tell you want I want? I want to see what you come up with. You know me better than anyone.

A nightclub? You're serious? I don't think it's the best idea-- Justin, are you a man or an amoeba?

I haven't been dancing since that time I nearly hyperventilated in a while, no. It'll be a great time -- did you want to get dinner before that or something?

Too bad I already had my birthday; I should've asked for better quills. But fine, make me guess like that. I'll try my best.

Hence why it would be fun! I haven't been to one in a while, hence why we should go!

Sure!

But I want the dinner to be just you, Ernie, Hannah and I. Just the four of us like old times!

I will buy you want anyways. I think you need a new one.

I am sure your gift will be the best!

I'll see what I can do about that. I'm sure I can find some place to make reservations for us.

I think I do too. This one's leaky.
